Rediscovering Kozhikode - Chombala Harbour

Image
At Chombala harbour "A fairy went a-marketing, She bought a little fish...". Do you remember this poem? :) I went to buy fishes too! It was my first time visit to Chombala fishing harbor, Kozhikode District, though it's somewhat near to my home town. The harbor is located between Vadakara and Mahe. Being a pescetarian, I was delighted to watch how the freshly caught seafood is treated. When I reached there, the spot was already crowded. A lot of people were waiting for the trawlers to arrive and unload their fish and the fishermen were in high spirits to show off their catch of the day. People waiting Mackerels, Mackerels everywhere! It was a day of Mackerels though many other fishes were found in the harbor market. I could see fishermen lifting  carts full of fishes and transferring it to ice boxes to send it to the market outside from where it is delivered to hundreds of people everyday . Rediscovering Kozhikode - Kappad

Image
It's bliss to stand there and embrace the sun like a little lotus.  And the picture says it all! Whenever I pave a visit to Kappad beach, words keep flowing out from my heart. Here's one scribbling.  At Kappad beach I stand near the sea, hours so countless And never got tired waiting, For his zillion smiles at dawn and throughout. Moon has proposed me a thousand times, But I lost my heart to the sun. The sea is the limit and witness; Of my sighs and smiles, and of my hopes and worries. Each time I stand by her side, She pacifies me with her songs, so magical, That can revive one from life and death. It’s always an enlivening experience rediscovering history, finding the stories behind, going through the singular materials once owned by people like us; of those who has owned a name for themselves and those of the common man who has gone through gains and pains, unfortunately not leaving a distinguishable name behind for us to rant about apart from their material possessions for us to glance through. Sharing here such an experience. I had blogged about my love for Kozhikode and my weekly routine of rushing home after office. I rarely get time to take a pause and roam about in the city, rediscovering the happiness and curiosity. My new year activities started up on a slow pace and the first place I visited was Pazhassi Raja Archaeological Museum and Krishna Menon Art Gallery. It's been a long time I was longing to go there. When I asked some people about this place, nobody knew about it that well, it’s obvious that not much information is available online too, except the old
